Where does the tour start?
The starting point depends on the tour chosen. You’ll find all the information in the booking confirmation.
Are your tours only for groups?
We organise both private and group visits. To request bespoke itineraries, contact us on info@materacitytour.it
How many participants are allowed on the Sassi guided walking tours?
Our guided walking tours of the Sassi can take a maximum of 30 adults.
How many seats does the panoramic bus have?
The panoramic bus has 18 seats + 1 for the tour assistant.
What languages are the tours available in?
Walking tours are available on request in Italian, English, French, Spanish, German, Portuguese and Japanese.
On panoramic bus tours there will always be a tour assistant who speaks both Italian and English.
Is it possible to hop on and off the panoramic bus several times?
No, our panoramic bus tours follow set routes, and no other stops can be requested. The departure and arrival point for bus tours is Via Rocco Scotellaro, 4 (Matera).
Are there audio guides in different languages on the panoramic bus?
No, on board our panoramic bus you’ll always have a tour assistant who will describe the attractions along the route in English and Italian.
Are animals allowed on tours?
Pets are always welcome on walking tours, subject to prior notice.
Animals are admitted on tours that include bus transfers (panoramic or not), subject to prior authorisation.
However, it is essential to carry a muzzle with you in case of need.
Are the tours suitable for people with reduced mobility, children and the elderly?
Some itineraries may not be suitable for people with mobility difficulties due to uneven terrain, stairs or other factors.
Bus tours are particularly recommended for families with small children and for those with reduced mobility.
Does the tour include entry to any museums or attractions?
Some tours include entry to museums or attractions, while others focus on external visits.
We recommend checking the specific details at the time of booking.
What happens in bad weather?
Tours take place regularly, except in extreme weather conditions which may compromise safety.
Do you offer evening or night tours?
Yes, some tours have a sunset or evening option; check availability and times on our website.
Booking and payment
How can I book a tour?
You can book directly on our website or at our infopoints in Matera.
Do I need to book in advance?
We strongly recommend booking in advance, to avoid mistakes and ensure availability.
Which payment methods do you accept?
We accept credit cards, bank transfer, PayPal and cash.
Can I cancel or change my reservation?
The cancellation policy depends on the type of tour booked; please consult the specific terms at the time of booking
Is it possible to get a refund due to bad weather?
Tours booked are NON-REFUNDABLE in the event of rain, wind, snow or any other weather event. Full refunds are only given if the tour is cancelled by us for any reason.
Can I get a refund if I change my mind or can’t make it on time for the booked tour?
Once purchased, the ticket is non-refundable if you arrive late, fail to show up, or cancel your reservation with less than 48 hours’ notice. If you cancel your reservation at least 48 hours before the tour, you’ll receive a voucher, valid for 1 year from the date of the cancelled tour. Please check the specific terms at the time of booking
