I like the tour as it gave you a chance to see the town of Matera and our guide was very informative

We took the walking Saadi tour with Maria Theresa and she was absolutely phenomenal! She was very knowledgeable and passionate about Matera’s story. It’s was only 5 of us and it couldn’t have been better.

Gaetano is an extremely knowledgeable guide. He shares the remarkable history of the area, of life in the caves, with every sentence. His was not a tour of churches or development of religion, but of the continuous struggle of life here over 12,000 years. His tour was sprinkled with humor, references to major political developments in Italian governance, even contemporary cinema. If he were a university professor, we would enroll for a semester in his class. Bravo.

Perfect combination of a ride to Sassi area…and time to walk around

Guiseppe was an excellent, knowledgeable guide coming up with both fun facts and “gossip” as well as a broad historic knowledge on the region, city and social setting of the Sassi. It was a fun tour, super interesting and nice that we were only 4 people.

We learned so much with our wonderful guide! He was kind to our kids and included them in asking them questions which I loved. We saw so much that we just would have missed had we not done the tour. No regrets and would absolutely do it again!!
