Tibetan Bridge at a height of 9 metres: feel the thrill of crossing the Murgia canyon suspended over the void, with spectacular views of the valley below.
The tour starts from the heart of the Sassi di Matera with our guide, who will accompany you on the trail to the Tibetan Bridge, suspended 9 metres above the Murgia canyon; crossing it is a thrilling experience, with extraordinary views of the gorge below.
After the bridge, the trek continues up the side of the hill along ancient Murgia trails, where you’ll see traces left by the area’s early settlers, including prehistoric caves and ancient shelters.
Along the way, you’ll stop at some of the area’s most fascinating rock churches. Here, in spaces carved out of the rock, you’ll admire exquisite frescoes and listen as your guide tells the story of these places of worship.
Finally, the trek culminates at the Belvedere, the Murgia’s most spectacular viewpoint, offering a unique panorama of the Sassi di Matera, with the ancient districts of Sasso Caveoso and Sasso Barisano separated from Civita and its magnificent cathedral.
